restart academy
This is the opening sequence for Restart Academy, the second in the educational series from the Washington State Department of Commerce. The aim of Restart Academy is the help small businesses get the tools and information they need to restart their business post-pandemic. For this video, I licensed stock video that represented a diverse group of small businesses and upbeat music. I animated the words of the main themes of Restart Academy; Reenvision, Rebuild, Reignite, Restart. The video has an orange and purple duotone to help make the words clearly visible to those with low vision but to also match the theme throughout the Restart Academy webpage.

10 great reasons
Do you need a reason to do business in Washington State? This video has 10 of them! I gathered stock footage of popular Washington State sights, as well as videos that both, directly and indirectly, represent the state. I edited all of the footage together in Premiere Pro and all of the motion graphics were created in After Effects. The challenge with this video was how to creatively show a lot of text without completely blocking the video content. The work-around was to animate a low opacity dark gray circle and then animate the white text over over the circle which also makes the content accessible to people with low vision. I created compositions in After Effects which allowed me to reuse some of the animated effects helping me to work efficiently.

thrive! testimonial
Thrive! is a program of the Washington State Department of Commerce that helps second-stage companies grow their companies further. This testimonial video was filmed by ILF Media from Spokane and featured 4 Washington State companies. I was able to accompany the filming of 2 companies that were located in Western Washington. I worked with the program lead on which quotes were to be used for each question. In Premiere Pro I synced the sound and the videos together and edited the clips in order. I then moved the video into After Effects where I could add the motion graphic compositions to the video.

entrepreneur academy
This video is the title sequence for the Washington State Department of Commerce’s Entrepreneur Academy. The Entrepreneur Academy is a no-cost course created by experts from around Washington State for budding business owners. Think, form, launch, grow and optimize were the themes throughout the course and the words that we chose to animate for the opening. I used After Effects to create the motion graphics, and Premiere Pro to edit the stock footage together, with subtle vector graphics added to convey motion.

quality of life
The Quality of Life video is one of many that Choose Washington plays at various overseas trade shows. The goal of this video is to entice prospective businesses that are looking for a new location that Washington State not only has great benefits for businesses but that it also brings an unparalleled quality of life for the residents that other states cannot compete with. I compiled the stock video then edited it in Premiere Pro to the swell of the stock music. The animated Choose Washington logo was created in After Effects.
